Sitting in the sun at Lake Starnberg

Yesterday, we had wonderful sunny weather again. Finally, spring is arriving!

I took the opportunity to go for a little hike at Lake Starnberg. On the way, of course, I had to feed myself and stopped at a restaurant on the lakeshore. The wind was quite cool, but well wrapped in an extra blanket, I enjoyed the sunshine and a delicious risotto. There was not much activity on the restaurant terrace, it must be getting a little warmer still.

Ausruhen auf dem Schweizer Camino / Rest on the Swiss Camino

While I continued my pilgrimage on the Swiss Camino in September 2021 (Von Brunnen nach Buochs) I took this photo. I suppose the bench is dedicated to a woman named Ruth who liked to hike on this path and to sit down at this location. When I was there it was very cloudy and the visibility poor but I imagine it could be a splendid view in fine weather.

This is for XingFuMama’s photo challenge. Thank you for hosting this wonderful challenge all year long. I am afraid it is the last challenge with this topic, but I am glad you are planning a new project.

Always looking forward to your feedback.

Today I took a ferry from Lübeck-Travemünde to the Priwall peninsula where I walked at the natural beach. So wonderful to be back to the sea after two years!

However, this might well be my last trip for the coming months. Corona cases in Germany are rising dramatically. A new virus variant, supposed to be even more contagious, has been discovered in South Africa. A further German lock-down is being discussed …

Always looking forward to your feedback.

Glyptothek Munich, Museum of Greek and Roman Sculptures

The photo was taken when I could finally return to my favorite coffee location, the museum café at the Glyptothek. The inner courtyard is beautiful and features a very relaxing atmosphere, so rare in the hectic Munich city center! But I also love the unique ambiance of the inside restaurant where you sit in the vicinity of the ancient statues. In the café they serve perhaps the best Italian coffee in town and a very tasty selection of cakes (and other snacks and beverages).

And of course the collection is really worth visiting. For further information please look here.

Those were the happy times in summer and early autumn …

Due to extremely high corona numbers, the 2G rule (access only for vaccinated and recovered persons) applies to the Bavarian gastronomy. In the face of the dramatic utilization of intensive care units, the Bavarian government has today i.e. decided that in corona hotspots with an incidence of over 1000 (in Munich currently: 754) restaurants and hotels will be closed again at least until December 15. If you are interested in all current Bavarian Anti Covid measures please look here.

In a way the whole situation seems to me like a terrible nightmare from which one does not wake up. And there are still those who refuse to be vaccinated …

Pull up a seat Week 8

This for XingfulMama’s „Pull Up a Seat“ weekly photo challenge.

XingfulMama:
“As I get older I find myself more and more often looking for a place to perch when I am out and about. This might be a chair, a bench, a wall, a pew…maybe even a log or a rock. These spots can be artfully designed, quirky or very plain, sometimes they have a view, sometimes you meet someone else who needs a rest.”

My pictures show the backpack I was carrying on the Munich way of St. James from Munich to Lindau, Germany. Whenever I took a rest, the backpack went down first !

Nice company !
Relaxing in the shade on a hot day
Relaxing in the middle of nowhere
I made it ! Arrival in Lindau.
