Impressionism in Étretat/Normandy

The painter Claude Monet is the best-known representative of Impressionism. This style fundamentally renewed traditional painting.
One of his most famous paintings shows the cliff at the beach in Étretat at sunset. Even though I couldn’t stay for the sunset, I found the view intoxicatingly beautiful (post to follow).

This is for Becky’s SquaresRenew Challenge.

On the Ferry from Tangier to Tarifa

During my stay in beautiful Tarifa/Andalusia I went to Morocco on a day trip (post to follow). The ferry crossing took only an hour, but multiple passport, customs and security checks prolonged the journey.

The picture was taken on the evening journey back to Spain when the boat was moving very fast so that the view of Tangier was disappearing quickly.

This is my contribution to Becky’s Renew Squares Challenge.

A rocky Walk down the Memory Lane

Of course, I have thousands of mountain photos. We like to hike up to a summit or to a viewpoint, where I love to photograph the mountain panorama.

For Donna’s Lens Artists Challenge I would like to show something special. A very long time ago, in the autumn of 1988, when we were still young, we travelled through the South-West of the USA and visited the famous National Parks. I was thrilled as I had never seen more spectacular rock formations! (Much later, I liked the landscapes in the Canadian Rockies almost as much and they won out because they had lovely turquoise lakes).

In those old times gone by, people photographed scenery with slide film and, oh dear, tortured friends and relatives with long boring slide shows afterwards. I had the slides digitised a few years ago. I didn’t like the quality, but at least the pictures were still visible, unlike the faded prints from color film. Recently, I’ve started to edit some files with Lightroom. I am showing some mountain photos here. While editing I made sure that the vintage look was largely retained in the pictures.

Photos: Canyon de Chelley, Zion N.P. (2 ), Anasazi Cliff Dwellings, Monument Valley (2), Yosemite N.P., Bryce Canyon, Arches N.P. and Grand Canyon.

How do you go about preserving your memories? Have you digitised your photos and how did that work?

Seltsames Panorama

Doors of Antequera

During my roundtrip in Andalusia in Southern Spain I visited the wonderful town of Antequera before I returned to Málaga. At the beginning, I thought that my stay of two days was long enough, but I quickly discovered that there was much to see and to do. I was not getting bored at all but very busy. And I discovered some really nice doors.
